Where Can I Find My RSS Feed on Blogger.com?
“I have a stupid question to ask you.” I often see this at the beginning of an email. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a stupid question. If you don’t know, but you had the courage to ask, that’s a really good step in the right direction.
For folks who are not techies, when you explain what an RSS feed does, you get an “ah-ha.” But that’s not where it ends. Then, the next logical question would be, “Okay, so where can I find my RSS feed.” I often hear this from Blogger.com users.
Bottom of Your Blog
When people would ask me that question, my old answer was to tell them to look at the bottom of their blog for this link:
Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)
If you place your cursor over the link, you will see a URL that looks similar to this:
http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
Your visitors can click on this link to subscribe to your posts in their favorite feed reader (see last week’s post.) You can also use it to when you set-up an account with feedblitz.com or feedburner.com.
Add Subscription Link Gadget
Over the years, since Google acquired Blogger.com, it has improved it’s services. Virtually anyone can set-up a blog with relative ease. Still, you have to be “curious enough” and “fearless enough” to find all your options. The layout editor for blogger.com offers some really cool gadgets for users. To get to the layout, be sure you are logged in.
In the bar at the top of your blog on the right, you should see “Customize.” Next, click the “Page Elements” tab. Depending on which side your side bar is located, click “Add a Gadget.” Two gadgets you will want to add to your site for visitor are:

Click on the plus sign. You can change the text to say what you want, but “Subscribe To” pretty much covers it. View your blog to see a new section that resembles the image below. Experts recommend placing your subscription box at the top right side of your blog or website.

Add a Followers Gadget
If you are on Twitter, then you are already familiar with the term “followers.” A few months ago, this gadget started appearing on several blogs I already followed. I decided to remove them from my Google Reader and actually “follow” the blog. Folks get to see my toothy smile and know that I read their content, and there is a special area in Google Reader for any bloggers you follow.

I would recommend working on building up traffic for your blog if you decide to use the “Followers Gadget.” I’ve seen blogs where there are very few followers. If you don’t want your feelings hurt or ego bruised, as you are trying to grow and market your blog, keep that in mind. Followers may come real slow.
I hope this post was helpful, next week I will talk about Wordpress and a few others. If you have any questions for me, feel free to post them in the comment section.
If I don’t know, I certainly will point you in the right direction.
